MAMOUDZOU (AFP) – Fourteen people died and seven were still missing Friday night, 24 hours after the wreck, off the coast of Mayotte. A boat full of illegal immigrants from the Comoros were attempting to seek their fortune from the French island in the  Indian Ocean. According to the testimonies of survivors the traditional fishing boat they were in, carrying 33 people including 7 children, probably struck a reef flat, that is to say a shoal reef at low tide.

A fisherman, discovers the wreck and  manages to save eight people by getting them to the beach, before giving the alarm at 1:05 local Friday. The PC of the state action was immediately activated to monitor the progress of operations. All night, a police boat and air rescue and the gendarmerie along with a coast guard ship took part in the search.  Reinforced by an ultralight aircraft at sunrise.

Pretty grim stuff and I cannot accurately translate the title! Now this is quite a bulky book and Charles Masson has put a lot of work into it.  The art style here works. It is not over-complicated or going for a highly polished style.  It is good solid comic drawing –with some nice scenes and very well drawn characters.

Spoiler alert –the end is grim.

A book I can recommend, if you read French, or if you just want to look at nice art.
