Here is the 'Exclusive' MONTHS after CBO Confirmed it: Cumberbatch To Play Dr Strange In Movie

WHY do I think it pointless giving advance movie news that no one else has?  MONTHS ago I confirmed that Cumbarbatch WAS going to be playing Dr Strange in the movie.  Then others stated "the actor is on the short-list"  and I wrote he IS playing Dr Strange.

Listening to the radio I hear "exciting news" -Benedict Cumberbatch is to play Dr Strange in a movie.

So far, I have -through various sources- confirmed various movie news items regarding Marvel and DC. No one takes any notice and then they jump up and down in excitement when they hear it later. EVEN Face Book friends who see these items.

So from now on I am not busting a gut to get insider news.

Here is Yahoo! Movies breaking story (a couple months after CBO confirmed it).

Benedict Cumberbatch Confirmed For Doctor Strange

It’s official – Benedict Cumberbatch has landed the role of Marvel’s Doctor Strange. But what do we know about Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme?

Benedict Cumberbatch Confirmed For Doctor Strange

According to an official press release, the 38-year-old British actor has finally been confirmed for the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange’ movie… a film originally revealed as part of Marvel’s Phase Three announcement.

“The actor will star in Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’, scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016,” they revealed. “The film [is] directed by Scott Derrickson with Jon Spaihts writing the screenplay.”

‘Doctor Strange’ follows the story of a talented neurosurgeon – Doctor Stephen Strange – who discovers a hidden world of magic and alternate-dimensions after being involved in a horrific car crash.

Of course, Cumberbatch has been linked with the prestigious comic book role for some time… but with the likes of Joaquin Phoenix coming close to landing a deal, it looks as though Marvel was forced to hang tight on their official announcement. At least, until now.

“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said Marvel boss, Kevin Feige. “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”

I can’t help thinking that if anyone was born to play Doctor Strange, it has to be Benedict Cumberbatch. After starring in the BBC’s hit TV series ‘Sherlock’, he’s proven time and again that he has the gravitas to pull off a more weighty role.

And let’s face it – Stephen Strange is certainly at the less-fanciful end of the spectrum when it comes to Marvel characters.

But with ‘Doctor Strange’ set to introduce the supernatural side of the Marvel universe, how will this affect the MCU? And what can we expect from the upcoming film?

At the moment, your guess is as good as ours. Although ‘Doctor Strange’ was confirmed in Marvel’s recent Phase Three announcement, very little has been discussed when it comes to the actual film. And while we know that Scott Derrickson is aboard to direct, that’s about all we know.

Which classic ‘Doctor Strange’ villains will appear on the big screen? Will Dormammu or Baron Mordo rear their heads? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But either way, it looks as though it’s Benedict Cumberbatch who will be tackling them.

‘Doctor Strange’ is expected in cinemas from 4 November 2016.
