UK Avengers Comics -it's in the quality

I own the Alan Class black and white reprints of Marvel's Avengers comics and he was using the plates provided under license so they were clean line work -no need to grey-scale colour artwork.

I own Odham's Press issues of Terrific where the same quality of printing is present.

I do think the weekly UK issues got better colour than the original Marvel monthly!

We then come to Marvel UKs weekly Avengers comic and these can look messy.  Art is grey-scaled and in many issues the pages are quite dark so a great deal of detail goes missing.  They are in fact, quite messy.  Some of the covers were just awful.  The main reason for this was that the company was using the cheapest quality materials and I know this because on two occasions I talked to the print company involved who felt the quality made them look bad -but the client got what the client wanted.,

When the strip moved over to Marvel Super Heroes and Rampage (MONTHLY) the reproduction art was a lot better quality.

I think in the future I will need to write a post looking at the books as they were reproduced in the UK.  And to answer a question: no the Avengers weekly comics did not contain full stories. A US monthly could be split up and used in 3-4 UK weeklies.  Bear that in mind along with the print quality because you will be very disappointed otherwise!
